Environment Ministers of Canada, Mexico, United States to Meet in Mérida, Mexico for #CEC29, 14-15 July 2022

Montreal, 12 July 2022 — The Commission for Environmental Cooperation’s (CEC) 29th annual Council Session and Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC) Public Forum return this year in a hybrid format, taking place in person in Mérida, Mexico as well as virtually, on 14 and 15 July 2022.

Media are invited to attend #CEC29, under the theme “Community-led Environmental Education for Sustainable Development.” The top North American environmental officials, alongside environmental experts, community groups and youth leaders, will meet to discuss the latest developments in shared environmental priorities and set the agenda to drive regional solutions for a more sustainable and equitable future.

The CEC Council Members are María Luisa Albores González, Mexico’s Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources, the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Canada’s Minister of Environment and Change, and Michael S. Regan, the United States Environmental Protection Agency Administrator.

  • Council Public Session on Community-led Environmental Education for Sustainable Development (15:00 Central Time) – Dialogue with the Council on Community-led Environmental Education for Sustainable Development, and presentations by the winners of the CEC’s annual Youth Innovation Challenge, trilateral announcements and signing of the Ministerial Statement.
